Overview
StormSync VT/OI is a free, independent project. This policy explains what information is collected when you submit an access request, why it is collected, and how it is used. There is nothing complicated here: the scope is narrow and the practices are straightforward.
What is collected and why
When you fill out the access request form, the following information is collected:
| Data | Why it is collected | How long it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | To verify that you are a real person and not an automated bot. May also be used to contact you in the rare event of a critical update, security issue, or major change to the app that requires action on your part. This is not expected to happen often, if at all. | Indefinitely, for as long as the project is active |
| IP address | Collected automatically by the web server as part of any HTTP request. It is not logged, stored, or used in any way. | Not retained |
No other personal information is collected through this website or the app itself.
What is not done with your data
Your email address is never sold, rented, shared with third parties, or used for marketing. You will not receive newsletters, promotional emails, or any unsolicited messages. The only emails you may ever receive are directly related to your access or to a critical change in the app that affects you.
Third-party services
This website is hosted on WordPress and served through Cloudflare. Both services process network traffic as part of normal operation and have their own privacy policies. StormSync has no control over data those services handle at the infrastructure level.
No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts are loaded on this site.
Data inside the app
The desktop application stores every alert it receives in a local SQLite database on your own machine. That history never leaves your computer and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
If you use Central Feed, the connection carries raw alert data from the developer's NWWS-OI account to your app for local parsing. No user credentials are collected, stored, or transmitted at any point. If you use a private connection, your NWS-issued credentials are saved locally on your machine only.
Your rights
You can request that your email address be removed from the access list at any time. To do so, send a message to the contact address below and it will be deleted promptly.
