Terms of Use.
Last updated: October 2026 · StormSyncApp.com
The short version
- StormSync is free to use, including for streamers, monetized streams included. Credit is appreciated, not required.
- Do not copy a stream element out of the app and modify it elsewhere without my permission.
- It is not an official warning system. Do not rely on it alone when your safety is involved.
- It is provided as-is, with no warranty.
The rest of this page explains those points. By downloading or using StormSync or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
Using StormSync
You may download, install and use StormSync VT/OI for free, for personal or business use. I own the app, its code, its design and its artwork. Using it does not transfer any of that to you.
Please do not:
- sell, rent or charge for the app, or hand out copies of it as your own;
- remove or hide the app's name or my authorship;
- use it to break the law, or to cause problems for the NWS, NWWS-OI, Central Feed or anyone else;
- present StormSync, or anything it shows, as an official NWS, NOAA or government product.
Streamers and creators
If you stream or make videos, you can use StormSync and its stream elements on your broadcasts and recordings for free. That includes monetized channels, and it does not matter how big or small you are. You do not need to ask first.
Credit is appreciated. A line like "Alerts by StormSync VT/OI, stormsyncapp.com" in your description or on a panel is plenty. It helps the project grow, but it is not a condition of using it.
Showing screenshots or recordings of the app in your streams, videos and posts is fine too.
Stream elements
The stream elements (overlays, maps, popups, the layout and the Streamer Remote) are part of the app and belong to me. You are free to use and arrange them in the app: start from the default template, add and remove elements, and set up your sources, cameras and facecam however you like.
What is not allowed: taking a stream element out of the app, copying it, and modifying it outside the app without my permission. That covers extracting its files, code or design, editing them, and using, publishing, sharing or selling the result. Changing an element through the app's own settings is not copying.
If you would like something custom, or want to use an element in a way these terms do not cover, ask me. I am usually happy to work something out. Email [email protected].
Central Feed
Central Feed is a free relay that I run so you do not need your own NWWS-OI account. It runs on a dedicated server built for 24/7 uptime, but I cannot guarantee it will never go down. I may change it, limit it, move it or stop it. Do not try to get at the credentials behind it or overload it.
If a browser or a person abuses it, I may pause downloads and access from that browser. If you need a connection that does not depend on me, you can request your own NWWS-OI account from the NWS and use a Private Feed. NWS credentials belong to whoever applied for them, so do not share them.
Not for life-safety use
StormSync is an independent hobby project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to NOAA, the National Weather Service or any government agency. It can be late, wrong or offline, because of bugs, my relay, your connection or the NWS feed itself.
Please do not rely on it alone for decisions about your safety or anyone else's. Always follow official warnings and local guidance. If you put alerts on a stream, remember your viewers may act on what they see, and say clearly that it is not an official source.
No warranty
StormSync and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", with no promises of any kind, including that they will be accurate, on time, uninterrupted or error free. The app is in active development and things will break.
To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using, or not being able to use, StormSync, the website or Central Feed. That includes missed or late alerts, lost data, lost income, or harm to people or property. Some places do not allow these limits, and in that case they apply only as far as the law lets them.
Your information
The privacy policy explains what the access form stores and what the app connects to. NWS data is public domain. The StormSync name, logo and branding are not, so please do not use them in a way that suggests I made or endorse something I did not.
Changes and ending access
I may update these terms as the project changes, and I will change the date at the top when I do. If you keep using StormSync after that, you accept the new version. I may also pause or end access for anyone who breaks these terms, and you can stop using StormSync at any time by uninstalling it.
