The Roadmap.
One version at a time. Use the arrows or the rail to travel through what shipped, what's next, and what's still classified.
GUI Reorganization
Restructured panel layouts with collapsible tab features and flexible view sizing settings.
OBS Stream Elements
Experimental direct integrations for alert tickers, running warning counters, and threat displays inside OBS overlays.
Tornado Upgrade Optimization
Overhauled logic loops to fix transition errors when alerts escalate dynamically.
Live Outlook Dashboard
Introduced instant severe threat rating tools tracking key risk variables like supercells, violent tornadoes, and MCS metrics.
SPC Data Engine
Built a retrospective data parser that lets users request and inspect historical SPC outlook layers starting October 2019.
Active Warning Layers
Upgraded mapping modules to render every active weather polygon currently recorded in the workspace data catalog.
Stream Elements Overhaul
A major rework of the experimental OBS stream elements introduced in v0.0.3. The alert ticker, warning counter, and threat display will be rebuilt for smoother updates and lower overlay latency, several rendering glitches will be fixed, and new elements are planned, including a live connection status widget and a compact active warning summary built for tighter overlay layouts.
Dual NWWS-OI Source Mode
No NWWS-OI credentials? No problem. Choose the centralized StormSync broadcast source, a shared ingest that delivers alerts to all users with an essentially unnoticeable ~100ms delay, no credentials required. Have your own account? Connect directly with your own credentials for a fully private, zero-relay feed.
SPC Archive Expansion
Extending historical Storm Prediction Center outlook retrieval all the way back to roughly 2003.
SPC/NWS Watch Information
Integration of real-time watch data including detailed tornado probabilities and hazard parameters.
SPC Archive Expansion
Extending historical Storm Prediction Center outlook retrieval all the way back to roughly 2003.
No Access Key Required
Starting with v0.0.5, StormSync is completely free to download and run, no access key, no request form, no waiting. Just install and go.
MCD Archives
Expanding historical tracking capabilities with deep search support for Mesoscale Convective Discussions.
Online Alert Routing
Send live alerts straight out of StormSync to external services through configurable webhooks, starting with Discord, so your server or team channel gets pinged the instant a new warning comes in.
Tornado Damage Survey Tracks
Plot official NWS damage survey tracks directly on the map, with EF rating, path length, and width data displayed as surveys are published.
Mobile Notifications
Through an app connected to your PC, it will send alerts directly to your phone whenever there is active weather if you have the feature enabled.
Simplified Mapping
A lightweight, standalone radar application focused purely on rapid performance and immediate hazard visualization.
NWWS-OI Broadcast Engine
Utilizes a centralized ingest to broadcast parsed National Weather Service text alerts and warning polygons to all users instantly, completely securing source credentials.
Cross-Platform Support
Native support for Mac and Linux, opening StormSync up beyond Windows-only use.
Spotter Mode
A dedicated high-contrast view built for field use. Fast updates, minimal clutter, focused on the highest-priority alerts.
