Behind StormSync.
Who built it, and why.
I go by Zloy.
I'm American and I've followed severe weather for a long time, mostly because I got hooked on Pecos Hank's storm chasing videos. StormSync started as something I built for myself, because nothing else did what I wanted.
I keep my real name off the project. Zloy is fine.
There was nothing to use.
NWWS-OI is fast. When I went looking for a desktop app that could connect to it and show me alerts in a useful way, I found almost nothing: a few GitHub libraries, some abandoned scripts, and no real app that a normal person could download and run.
People either did not know the feed existed, did not know how to connect to it, kept their tools private, or built backend-only code with no interface. So I built the interface. StormSync is the app I wanted to exist.
Still early, still moving.
StormSync is a solo project and I update it often. It is free. If something is broken or missing, I want to hear about it, and you can reach me through any of the links on this page.
If you like it, the best help is simple: tell other weather people about it, credit it if you stream, and send me bug reports.
